In January, 2010, the Instituto Biblico Victoria (IBV) opened on the Hearts In Action Ranch in Peten, Guatemala. It started with 55 students, eager to study Scripture. In  2011 a second year of studies was added. Classes meet on Saturday’s and follow an international curriculum produced by Victory Christian Center inTulsa, Oklahoma. Classes are live with frequent visits from guest teachers and via video in Spanish.

Coming from remote villages hours away, students rise while it’s still dark and take long bus rides over dirt roads to the ranch, going the extra mile to attend classes from week to week, We are seeing God’s power impact their lives and villages. Students range in age and occupation from lay villagers to full time pastors. Some are literate Spanish speakers while others are not. Many speak Indian dialects, their lives resonating to the beat of different drums. Large numbers of adults in Guatemala have only ever had a first or second grade education so this chance to study, later in life presents a special opportunity for which the people are very thankful and growing in the knowledge of Christ. This kind of enthusiasm for learning God’s word is refreshing and has energized the entire Hearts team.

2 Timothy 2:15 tells us to “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.“
